General Dress Policy

(This includes Dress Down/Spirit Days)

The following guidelines shall apply to all school activities and events:

  1. Students shall give proper attention to personal cleanliness and neatness of dress.
  2. No slippers or house shoes or shoes with extremely high heels (this includes wedges) are allowed.
  3. Clothes shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments at all times. See-through fabrics, sheer, fishnet fabrics (clothing with large holes), halter tops, off the shoulder, low cut tops, bare midriffs, short skirts and shorts, and swimwear are prohibited. ALL skirts must be as long as the longest finger when hands are placed at student’s side.
  4. All shirts*, skirts and skirts must meet dress code length.
  5. Students wearing leggings or other tight fitting pants must wear a shirt or top that provides sufficient coverage of their backside. Leggings must be opaque and not see through.
  6. Jeans with holes may not have holes that are higher than student’s longest finger when hands are placed at student’s side.
  7. No bare shoulders for boys or girls. Tank tops must cover students’ shoulders (4 fingers or larger width). Camisoles and bandanas are prohibited.
  8. No facial piercings or piercings that pose a safety risk of any kind are allowed.
  9. Dress, grooming or accessories that are considered unsafe, dangerous, a health hazard or disruptive to the learning environment shall not be allowed. Clothing and accessories may not have spikes or any other metal parts that may be a safety concern. Chain wallets and bandanas are prohibited.
  10. Dress, accessories and jewelry which contain obscene symbols, signs or slogans, and/or which slur or degrade on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, sex, disability or sexual orientation and impose a threat of imminent violence or disruption to the orderly operation of the school shall not be worn.
  11. Dress, grooming or accessories that contain language or symbols supporting sex, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or gang association shall not be worn.
  12. Baggy pants are not to be worn. Pants need to be properly fitted and/or worn with a belt. Under garments should not be visible (i.e. boys – underwear/boxers; girls – bras, undershirts or underwear).
  13. No hats, hoods, or beanies may be worn indoors for both boys and girls.
  14. Students’ faces must be fully visible at all times.
  15. No extreme or inappropriate facial makeup or masks are allowed.

Students appearing on school grounds in violation of the dress code will be counseled, given a uniform to wear, and parents will be contacted.

A student who willfully and continuously violates the dress code may be subject to further disciplinary action according to the City Wide Discipline Code.

In short- if you are not sure, don't wear it!

If you do not adhere to the guideline as indicated above you will lose your dress down privileges!!!
